Mecca Williams was born May 15, 1962 in Detroit, Michigan to the loving union of Joeretta and Umballa

Allah.  Mecca was educated in the Detorit Public School System and graduated from Ferndale High School

in 1980.  Mecca later went to pursue her dreams and graduated from Henry Ford Community College with

her Associates Degree in Culinary Arts in 2015.

On November 8, 1991, Mecca married Christopher Williams.  Born to their union was their daughter

Crystal Williams.  Mecca, affectionally known as “Mec” or “Mama Mecca,” accepted Christ as her Lord

and Savior at Holy Temple of Truth, under the leadership of  Zilliah Wilson.   Zilliah was Meeca

sister and best friend.  They talked for hours daily, up to six times a day.  What a bond they had!

Mecca loved her family so much.  There was nothing she wouldn’t do for them.  She would stand for hours

cooking their holiday meals.  She loved being surrounded around her family and friends.  She was the life

of the party.  She loved to cook, sing, ballroom (with lydia and Kesha) and playing cards.  She was known for

her funny metaphors, famous mac and cheese and her oh so delicious sweet potato pies.  Mecca loved being

around her family, especially her grandchildren.  On weekends, She would love to play cards and cook.  Her

saying would); be “If One Eats, We All Gone Eat.”  Most importantly was the love she had for everyone.  We

would end the night with her telling everyone go home and go to bed.  Mecca was a Jill of all trades.  On top

of her cooking, if you gave her instructions she ccould put it together, paint it or drywall it.

Mecca made her transition to be with the Lord, May 10 at 1:35 am at Ascension St. John Hospital, surrounded

by her loved ones.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Joeetta and Umballa, her brother Kalumalla,

her sisters, Salome, Karen, Lillie (a.k.a. JoAnn Simmie McCloud), sister-in-law, Lydia Williams, brother-in-law

Howard Patterson, great granddaughter Arielle and two nephews, Maurice and Davon, whom she looked at

at as sons.

Meca leaves to cherish her momory, her loving daughters, Kesha (Glenn), Shawnda (Robert) and Crystal

(Tyrone).  She also leaves her bonus children that loved her like a mother, Julius, Diores, Cedric, Danielle,

and Arielle; 12 grandchildren, Keshawn, KeShaunte, Keyon, Keyondra, Jvon, Robert Jr, Christian, Julius Jr,

Brendon, Wynter, Kamri and Lorenzo; three great-grandchildren, Kamari, Kayden and Kamoni; two

brothers, Sal Henderson(Denise) and Dimerius Greene;  seven sisters, Zilliah (Kevin), Zelaph, Kathy(Kevin)

Que and Aisha Griffin, Sabme and Amanda; two bestfriends, Antoinette Brown and Regina Moore; her

favorite cousin, Norma Gaines and a whole hosts of aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Mecca will truly be missed so this is not goodbye, this is see you later.
